At Malabar Resources, community engagement is at the heart of our values. When Jerrys Plains Public School P&C reached out to us a few months ago seeking assistance in reducing the costs of their school camp for students in years 3 to 6, we knew we had an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

With the rising cost of living creating financial constraints for some local families, we were determined to ensure that no child would miss out on this enriching experience. Through our Malabar Community Sponsorship Program, we promptly committed to covering 80 percent of each child’s camp expenses.

Not stopping there, we wanted to make the experience even more memorable. Every student received a special goodies bag, complete with a hat, sunscreen, and a drink bottle – essential items for an enjoyable and safe camp adventure.

From the 15th to the 17th of November, the students embarked on a journey to Canberra, exploring various educational sites that included:

  • National Capital Authority – Education Program
  • Mount Ainslie
  • Australian War Memorial
  • Australian National Botanical Gardens
  • Museum of Australian Democracy – People Power and Making Change
  • National Electoral Education Centre – House of Representatives
  • Royal Australian Mint
  • Australian Institute of Sport
  • Parliament House Canberra

We sincerely hope that each child had an incredible and educational experience during their time at camp. Malabar Resources remains committed to supporting initiatives that contribute to the growth and development of our local community.
