Malabar Resources has continued its partnership with the PCYC, supporting vulnerable families and children in need through the organisation’s Christmas Food and Toy Appeal.
Every year, PCYC Muswellbrook rallies local organisations and community members to contribute food, goods and toys to families who would otherwise go without during the summer holiday period. In addition to contributing to the appeal, Malabar volunteered to help the PCYC sort through and pack Christmas hampers.
Malabar also donated 20 brand new Christmas trees with decorations to families in need in the Muswellbrook and Singleton LGA.
Malabar’s Manager of Health, Safety, Environment and Community, Donna McLaughlin, said it was inspiring to see the community come together to help local families have a joyful Christmas.
“PCYC Muswellbrook does so much for the Upper Hunter through its annual Christmas Food and Toy Appeal and services, like the Humble Homes program, with few resources.
“To be in a position to contribute to these initiatives is a great privilege.
“Last year, the Christmas appeal supported over 250 local families. The PCYC is expecting a much higher number this year due to the impacts of COVID-19. Many local organisations contributed generously to the appeal.
Keldan Commercial donated $1000 worth of Coles Vouchers and Muswellbrook Public School’s Sewing Group made Christmas stockings and filled them for local children. A local couple also donated more than 70 boxes of goods they had been purchasing all year to support the appeal.”
