About the Asset
The Maxwell Solar Farm is a 25 - Megawatt (MW) solar farm to be located on rehabilitated land within the Maxwell Infrastructure site south of Muswellbrook.
The solar farm will provide 50 jobs for the local area during construction and two jobs during operation. The solar farm would generate more than 60 Gigawatt hours annually, providing enough energy to power about around 10,000 local homes.
The solar farm is an example of Malabar’s commitment to the local area and the transition to a renewable energy economy.
In August 2020, the Maxwell Solar Farm was approved by the NSW state government following a rigorous planning assessment process and the comprehensive review of independent expert reports on the environmental, economic, and social impacts of the proposal.
Given the recent announcement of the NSW state Government of a Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) in the Upper Hunter Valley, Malabar is currently assessing options to increase renewable generation.
Malabar maintains a complaints register specific to the Maxwell Solar Farm as a condition of consent. No complaints have been made.
The EIS, Assessment Report and Development Consent are available to download from the NSW Government’s Major Projects website.
