This week, we proudly supported the Combined Upper Hunter Small Schools NAIDOC Celebration, hosted by Sandy Hollow Pubic School.
86 primary students from Sandy Hollow, Murrurundi, Belltrees, Cassilis and Martindale joined together for a special day of cultural learning, fun and togetherness with support from students of Muswellbrook High School’s Clontarf Foundation and NASCA Academies.
Malabar was honoured to cover the cost for Uncle Richie Lawton from Budbudda Dreaming, who shared his knowledge through story, Didgeridoo playing and hands-on experiences around the Yarning Circle. From playing clapping sticks to learning how to throw a boomerang, every student had the chance to participate and connect with culture.
Each student received a Malabar gift bag with goodies including drink bottles, yo-yos, bouncy balls, pencils and a lunch cooler. A small gesture from Malabar Resources to help make the day even more memorable.
We’re proud to continue supporting opportunities for local schools and communities to come together and celebrate the strength and richness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
