On January 2, Malabar Resources achieved a major milestone as Maxwell Underground cut its first coal to commence development of the Woodlands Longwall!
This achievement follows the completion of the drift to coal in late November. Since then, significant progress has been made, including completing the concreting of the drift, making the drift conveyor operational to transport coal, installing a new ventilation fan with stoppings to direct airflow, and extending essential services such as water, power, and compressed air to the bottom of the drift.
With a continuous miner in action, coal is being cut, loaded onto shuttle cars, and transported to the surface via conveyor—an exciting moment for all involved.
